All the cheesy franchises that Henry Cavill wants to be a part of

As we’ve all learned by now, Henry Cavill is a huge geek. A huge geek who recharges his huge biceps like a pump gun, but a geek nonetheless. His most recent role puts him back in the boots of Geralt of Rivia, the legendary monster slayer in The Witcher Season 2 on Netflix. Over the past two years, as Cavill has been asked endlessly about his work and family life, he has made it known that he enjoys fantasy worlds, both in video game and tabletop form.

So we thought we’d collect all the franchises that Henry Cavill said he’d love to be a part of, if only to quench our own curiosity about what Cavill might look like dressed as an Elf from Warhammer or Mass Effect Turian.

Mass Effect

No surprise, Henry Cavill also loves sci-fi games. In early December 2021, Cavill told GamesRadar he “would love to have a conversation” about the potential Mass Effect series from Amazon.

“Alright, yeah, it all depends on how they perform it,” Cavill said when asked about his interest in the show. “The world of adaptation can be heavy or light. When I like a product, I prefer the adaptation to be less modified at the source, so it all depends.”

Of course, an obvious role for Cavill could be Mass Effect’s own Commander Shepard, but he could also be more than suitable for Turian assassin / drinking buddy / best boy Garrus Vakarian.

The good news is that Cavill may have already teased something Mass Effect related, sharing an image on Instagram which was later determined to display text from a Mass Effect wiki page.

Red Dead Redemption

Cowboys wouldn’t be too far away for Cavill, either. Talk to Game Reactor, Cavill mentioned that he thinks Red Dead Redemption would make a solid adaptation.

“Well, that’s tricky, because you’re having both an IP and a business, which is a tricky thing to do, so I sure don’t want to get in a corner with that, but there is. alot of games there … actually i started playing Red Dead Redemption 2 – i know i’m a little late for this party – but i started playing it and i really like that. And so, something like that I think it would be fun to make a movie out of it. “

We certainly know that Cavill’s normally fresh face can sport a grizzled, worldly tired look thanks to his work as Geralt, so an equally grizzled cowboy seems possible.

War hammer

Of all of Henry Cavill’s cheesy interests, Warhammer 40,000 is perhaps the most passionate. The tabletop war game franchise has consumed plenty of hobby stores (when Friday Night Magic isn’t busy taking tables) thanks to an iconic cast of Space Marines, Chaos Demon Gods, or Howling Orks.

Cavill has previously professed his love for Games Workshop, the company behind Warhammer and its countless licensed video games and books, as well as the game Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. He even paints miniatures of Warhammer (including the helmeted Adeptus Custodes faction), having taken over the hobby during the 2020 lockdown after some time away from it.

While promoting The Witcher Season 2, Cavill told IGN, “There are a lot of characters in the Warhammer Universe that I want to be. But I really can only be one, because once I am, I can’t be the others So if that was to happen, if there was to be something going on, I should be very aware of it.

“[Warhammer] is obviously rich in characters, and in particular the 40K universe, ”he continued. “I guess I could play a different character in the Warhammer Fantasy universe compared to the 40K universe, but I’m just dreaming now. I should talk to the guys at Games Workshop and see what happens.”

When suggested he could make a good Gregor Eisenhorn, a character in Dan Abnett’s popular Warhammer 40,000 novel series who serves as an inquisitor for the Imperium of Man, Cavill’s interest seemed cautiously piqued. .

“It would be exciting, yes, but then I burn the primarchs and the captains-general so I don’t really know,” he said.

Other characters Cavill could theoretically play include Horus Lupercal, the traitorous Primarch whose campaign against the Emperor of Mankind sparked the current state of the 40K universe. He could also play any number of Space Marines, or similarly author Dan Abnett’s Imbram Gaunt from “Gaunt’s Ghosts,” a popular novel series following the Astra Militarum regiment, which works to liberate human settlements. of Chaos.

Working in his favor, Cavill has already been turned into an Easter Egg in Total War: Warhammer 3, which includes a devious reference to his portrayal of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher.
