IPL 2023: Franchises express interest in uncapped Jordan Thompson ahead of auction


Uncapped all-purpose bowling Jordan Thompsonwho won the limelight with his spectacular performances in the hundredReportedly attracted interest from Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises ahead of the mini-auction scheduled for December.

According to a report published in the Daily mail, Thompson has been contacted by two IPL teams for the 2023 edition of the cash-rich league. In addition, there was also interest in Surrey’s WillJackswho made his international Twenty20 debut last month, with Somerset’s explosive opener Smeed.

Thompson grabbed the spotlight during The Hundred 2022, scalping 14 wickets in 9 games at a save rate of 9.14 and finishing the tournament as the top wicket taker.

Notably, Thompson has been entered by the Mumbai Indian owned team for the upcoming Emirates Twenty20 contest. The versatile star also shone in the Bob Willis Trophy in 2020, scoring 234 runs and winning 15 wickets for Yorkshire.

Thompson also has relative experience in the shorter format as he played in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Kings of Karachi and the Big Bash League (BBL) for Hobart hurricanes. Overall, Thompson played 78 T20s, in which he scored 691 runs and took 74 wickets. He has 958 carries and 108 scalps under his belt in 34 first-class games.
